A big, heavy off-road workhorse, and one of the first 4x4s to go diesel-only. Avoid the early 2.8 engine; the 3.0 from 2000-on is far better. The 3-door was binned in 2003, but the enormous 5-door is surprisingly cramped inside, though a facelift in 2004 helped. The low-spec S model from 2003-on delivers almost unmatched off-road ability for your cash, and will go on and on if cared for.
Buyer beware!Parts can be hard to get hold of, and cost an arm and a leg when you do.
