LAND ROVER 90 (used) review

1. What Is It?

Date Published: 21st January 2011

Price £2000-£30,000
Dates 1985-on

The basic Land Rover, in various guises. Expensive and very poorly equipped to buy new, but with awesome residuals, though the used market is full of unknown quantities. Saving a few quid by going for a rough one is always a false economy, but even pampered ones go wrong.

Buyer beware!
The majority of second-hand examples are more abused than used. Early turbo-diesel engines and the gearboxes on 300Tdi models were the low spots in
a generally horrific tale of unreliability. Interiors can get into a fearsome state.

+ Great off-road, easy to modify
- Cramped, unrefined, unreliable

What you get
£2500 Rough early ones
£7500 Decent Tdi/Td5 vans
£12,500 Late Td5s on highish miles
