TOYOTA Land Cruiser V8 review

1. To Live With

Our testers didn’t bother even trying not to focus on the Land Cruiser’s vastness. It’s at the heart of everything about the vehicle, from its price to its cubby box.
No surprise then that oddment stowage is fairly epic, if not ever so creative. The cabin has the carved-from-solid feel you expect, and there were no complaints about its materials. One tester suggested that the graphics on its sat-nav looked a bit low-rent, though, while another thought it looked as if the dash designers didn’t have to try too hard to fit all the controls in, presumably because they had so much space to play with.

There’s no shortage of leg or head room anywhere; rear knee room is restricted with the front seats all the way back, but testers pointed out that that’s only because they’ve got such a huge range of adjustment. The rear seats have a bit of an old-style folding mechanism, though, which again feels like a lazy response to the enormous amount of space available, and the third row is side-hinged, robbing yet more room from a cargo bay that’s still, guess what, enormous.
