All our testers were fans of the previous Land Cruiser, and none professed to being convinced by the new model’s styling. Inside, though, all agreed that Toyota has taken a great leap forward.
Quality is as epic as you’d expect, though not all our testers thought the materials on the dash felt as premium as they should. The controls are robust, too, but there’s an awful lot of them, especially on top models, and they can be confusing as you search for the right button.
You won’t struggle to find a good driving position, though, and there’s plenty of oddment stowage. But it’s in the back that the Land Cruiser really impressed our testers, with good head and legroom in a second row which folds flat to leave just a small step in a long cargo floor.
Behind this, either standard or optional depending on how rich you’re feeling, is a third row of seats which fold flush to the floor when not in use. These are only really for kids, though.
