Renault Koleos review

2. Engine

Both the Koleos’ platform and 2.0-litre diesel engine can be traced back to the X-Trail, but the similarities between the two compact SUVs don’t end there. As well as sitting in the same price-bracket, promising a very family orientated package and having a clear on-road bias, each model also offers both a standard and power boosted version of its dCi unit.
The last time we drove the Koleos it was fitted with the 175 horsepower version, tuned to provide an extra 25bhp and 30lbf.ft, though on this occasion we have the standard 150hp version, mated to a six-speed manual box and a 4x4 drivetrain.
