Quashqai +2 review

2. Equipment and design

The newcomer is called Qashqai+2, and it’s stretched by 211mm to accommodate its third row of seats. But Nissan has done more than just chuck an extra overhang on the original platform; wheelbase is extended, too, by 135mm, meaning the vehicle’s proportions remain consistent with the standard model.
So much so, in fact, that its roofline has been stretched and lifted to create the overall look of a larger, long-wheelbase SUV. It’s still more of a crossover than the next vehicle up in the range, the X-Trail, but it’s a useful middle point between that model and the short-wheelbase Qashqai.
And ‘useful’ is the word. Whether the Qashqai’s endearingly chunky image is quite as powerful with the +2’s larger proportions is down to personal taste, but you’re unlikely to buy one over the standard version unless it’s the extra space, seats and flexibility you’re doing it for.
