NISSAN Qashqai review

Since it was launched in 2007, the Qashqai has been an undoubted hit not only for Nissan but for the company’s Sunderland factory. More than half a million have been built since then, helping make the plant Britain’s largest car maker and exporter. This could be the introduction to a sad tale of laurel-resting, but Nissan added the seven-seat Qashqai+2 to the range the following year and more recently gave both models a facelift and general tickle-up. All too often, this can be an exercise in window dressing, but the revised models show some genuine improvements over what was already a very good car.

Yes, ‘car.’ The Qashqai qualifies for inclusion here for all sorts of good reasons, but the majority you’ll see don’t have four-wheel drive. It’s an option, and not a cheap one at £1550, especially as these days it’s only available on the range-topping Tekna model.

As a result, even with typical discounts taken into consideration, you’ll spend closer to £25k than twenty on a 4x4 Qashqai. On the Qashqai+2, that’ll be very close indeed.
