Murano review

2. Engine

As before, there’s a model range of just one. This is a high-flyer in Nissan’s line-up, and buyers get it with all the kit included in what the company describes as a ‘business class’ interior.
Also unchanged is the powertrain design, with a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine turning all four wheels via a CVT gearbox with manual override. The engine and box themselves have been updated, however; you now get 253bhp and 246lbf.ft, an improvement of 5-10% over the old model.
More importantly, perhaps, CO2 emissions drop by 11% to 261g/km and fuel efficiency improves by a similar amount, with the combined cycle now accounting for 25.9mpg. That gets the Murano past what is perhaps something of a psychological barrier, though it’s still not exactly frugal.
