MAZDA CX-7 review

1. To Live With

The CX-7 is a very well equipped vehicle with bags of electrical toys. It’s loaded with luxuries too, like leather seats – though these don’t feel very classy, and their design offers precious little support to keep you from sliding around. One of our testers also wondered why the stitching on the handbrake’s leather shroud was on top of it rather than hidden underneath.

There was praise for the clarity of the displays and controls, though, and for the size of the glovebox and centre cubby. We didn’t think much of the weedy little door pockets, however, and the screen for the sat-nav and reversing camera is tucked away somewhat  at the top of the centre stack.

In the back, there’s more knee room than you might expect – though with privacy glass surrounding you, there’s less light. For carrying stuff rather than people, the seat-backs fold down with a simple one-shot action to leave a long and more or less flat cargo bay.
