BMW X6 review

1. To Live With

If you like being looked at, the X6 is for you. Inside, its cabin is basically the same as the X5 – which means nice soft-touch materials and a layout that’s both clear and classy. Stowage is only average, though, but seating is excellent.

It’s in the back that the differences become apparent. The X6 is a four-seater only, with a large centre console between two rear buckets. These have great legroom, but the coupe-like sloping roof means headroom is very limited.

Folding them is a disappointment, too. The squabs stay put and the backs don’t sit flat as a result. You can push them all the way down, but they don’t click into place and come back up to rest leaving a slope in the floor.

Further back, there’s a big underfloor stowage area with a separate waterproof box. The lift-up flap above it is lockable, too.
